Thank you for your request for information made under the Freedom of
Information Act (FOIA) 2000, relating to residential care home services. I
am pleased to provide the response below:

 

1.    Please can you provide me with the Kent Cost Model for LD
residential care home services.

2.    Are all placements made with the Kent County Council Adult
Purchasing Team, Commissioning Team and Care Managers or do placements get
made via Borough councils Ashford, Shepway, Dover, Maidstone, Sevenoaks
(is it controlled centrally or by each locality)

Individuals placed in residential care by Kent County Council have to meet
the KCC eligibility criteria. They will have had, unmet needs identified
in a social care assessment under the Care Act. The allocated Care Manager
undertakes the assessment with the individual and they are responsible in
working the individual and their family to find a placement to meet their
needs. Case Managers are based in localities across Kent. The Adult
Placement Team who negotiate prices with the providers based on the Care
Needs Assessment are a KCC Centralised Team that sit under Access to
Resources. The Commissioning Team are responsible for agreeing price,
managing the contract, and work with the KCC Procurement Team to do this.
