Dear Mr Knight

Thank you for your email received by London Underground. You asked for information about the reduction in service of the District line Olympia Service. Your request has been considered under the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act. I can confirm that we do hold the information you require. I am sorry for the delay in responding to you.

Please find attached the documents requested.

The District line service to Kensington (Olympia) of three trains per hour all day will continue to operate at weekends. London Overground services to Kensington (Olympia) will increase to four trains per hour all day from May. As well as weekend operation, the Olympia service on the District line is planned to operate special services to serve major weekday events at the Olympia exhibition centre. This change will enable LU to re-route more services to the Wimbledon branch, which sees nearly 30 percent of District line traffic, providing a much needed boost to the service on this part of the line.

I hope this information is useful. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact me on 0845 3309880.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mr Knight

The internal review of our handling of your Freedom of Information request has been completed.

The review found that TfL contravened section 10 of the Act which requires public authorities to respond to requests promptly and in any event within 20 working days. The cause of the delay was due to documents not being available prior to the press announcement made in relation to the Kensington Olympia Service. Shorty after the press announcement similar requests to yours were submitted and there were delays in having the drafts approved by senior management.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in responding to your requests. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome of this internal review, you can refer the matter to the independent authority responsible for enforcing the Freedom of Information Act, at the following address.

Information Commissioner’s Office
Wycliffe House
Water Lane

A complaint form is available on the ICO’s website (www.ico.gov.uk).
