Keeping families together

This request has been withdrawn by the person who made it. There may be an explanation in the correspondence below.

Dear Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership,

Please advise if it is your policy to try, before anything else to keep children with their birth parents. Even if they are settled in placement.

I would also like to know, how much time should a social worker spent with the families that are on the edge of care. And how much time should they spend with parents to get to know them for them to do an accurate parenting assessment.
Yours faithfully,

Elaine Manson

Dear Ms Manson

Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (“The Act”)

We refer to your request dated 14/06/2020 03:15, for the following
information FOI: Keeping families together.

Please advise if it is your policy to try, before anything else to keep
children with their birth parents. Even if they are settled in placement.
I would also like to know, how much time should a social worker spent with
the families that are on the edge of care. And how much time should they
spend with parents to get to know them for them to do an accurate
parenting assessment.

Our ambition is to support families to care for their children at home.
There is no formal policy, however, social workers aim to conclude a
parenting assessment within 9 months of a child being accommodated. Cases
are assessed on an  individual basis.

Please contact me as the officer responsible for responding to your
request if you have any further queries.

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with this response, please refer
to the further information at the link below.

Yours faithfully

Freedom of Information Co-ordinator
Health & Social Care Partnership
