Just how many paramedics have you got?
Dear East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
I saw an interview with a Mr Ashford from your Trust on BBC Look East last month in which he told Stewart White you had about 900 paramedics.
An article in the Eastern Daily Press on 20th February 2014 quoted a figure of 1422 - quite a difference. I assume this information also came from the Trust.
Can you clarify just how many fully qualified paramedics you actually have and why the figure given by a senior manager was so different to the one in the press?
Also, I think the 1422 figure included "Emergency care practitioners" so perhaps you can tell me how many of those you had at the time as well?
Yours faithfully,
J Lowe

Dear J Lowe
Further to your request, please see below for the list of the HCPC
registered staff at the Trust, this shows the Paramedic numbers as well as
the number of other registered staff. The total is 1446. This should
help to explain the difference in the figures supplied as one would have
been Paramedics only.

Dear East of England Ambulance Service
Actually I would be grateful if you could clarify several things for me.
A - I don't know what a lot of the abbreviations used stand for, so can you explain them?
B - I asked about Paramedic numbers. You have included nurses etc. As far as I understand, these aren't registered paramedics, they're registered nurses. Why include them as that was not my request was about?
Yours sincerely,
J Lowe
