Junior Research Fellowship Recruitment
Dear Peterhouse, Cambridge,
Please could you provide me with some specific data from your Equal Opportunities Monitoring Forms for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellows/Postdoctoral Research Fellows (Stipendiary and Non-stipendiary) for the last 10 years.
I would like anonymised statistics pertaining to unsuccessful applicants' gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and religion.
I would like anonymised statistics pertaining to successful applicants' gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and religion.
Yours faithfully,
Gwendolen Bowles
Dear Gwendolen
Thank you for your FOI request of 29 January. For clarity please note:
o Since 2014, Peterhouse has run the JRF competition in Peterhouse via a
secure online system designed for us by an external provider
o No data have been retained from the previous ‘paper-based’ years of
the competition so I can only provide information for 5 years from
2014– 2018 inclusive
o The number of fellowships offered each year depends on funding
available but is normally 2 or 3 (and, exceptionally, 4). All of our
fellowships are stipendiary.
The anonymised statistical data we are able to generate from the system
covers gender, age and nationality but not ethnicity, disability, sexual
orientation. Since you do not ask for nationality, please therefore find
attached a table giving the breakdown of unsuccessful (the total number of
eligible applicants who submitted complete applications) and successful
(those who were selected from the rest and offered Fellowships at the end
of the competition) applicants by age and gender:
Yours sincerely
