Jubilee mugs: cost and republican alternative

M Green made this Freedom of Information request to Burnham on Sea and Highbridge Town Council

This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Burnham on Sea and Highbridge Town Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Burnham on Sea and Highbridge Town Council,

What was the total cost of the 'free' jubilee mugs handed out to schoolchildren?
http://www.burnham-on-sea.com/news/2012/...

Who made the decision to give away these mugs, and what procedure was followed? Was a republican alternative considered? What other jubilee costs have been or are budgeted to be spent?

What was the Town's total spend last year, and what is it budgeted to be this year? What were the town's income sources, and how much came from each? How many households paid tax? How many received benefits?

Please attach a copy of last year's and this year's budget in your reply.

Thank you for your time.

Yours faithfully,

M Green

Dear Mr Green

It will take me a little while to put together all the information you require - I am for example still waiting final acounts for Jubilee expenditure.

So rather than answer you piece-meal, I will respond fully at the earliest opportunity and certainly within the 21 day deadline under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act.

For information about the number of Council tax payers and how many receive benefit you will need to contact the billing authority (Sedgemoor District Council) as the Town Council does not hold this information.

The Town Clerk continues to demand physical addresses before releasing information, regarding of the format in which it was requested. Also, if the address is not within the Parish, expect to be questioned as to your entitlement to receive a response. This body does not, in my experience, comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
