JSA and UC rollout

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I writing to request information on whether Job seekers Allowance claimants will be forced to switch to Universal Credit during the roll out of Universal credit in their particular area.

And if possible whether there will be a particular time-frame in which Job Seekers Allowance claimants will be required to be on Universal Credit by.

Finally I would like to know if there is a process by which a claimant can refuse Universal Credit and continue to claim Job seekers Allowance or Claim Job seekers allowance in an area where universal credit has been rolled out until it is completely phased out.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Smith

Dear DWP Strategy Freedom of Information,

"We do not currently hold information on arrangements for migration of legacy benefits
on to Universal Credit. "

Surely this reply can't be serious, The DWP are in the middle of rolling out this universal credit and have an entire road map set which claims that universal credit is already rolled out in some areas as well as this response itself stating:

"Rollout of the Universal Credit full service is due to complete in December 2018. After
the rollout process has completed, DWP will then begin moving all remaining existing
benefit claimants to the Universal Credit full service starting in 2019"

What you have told me does not match the information you have given to me so I will ask again, will existing claimants be "required" to change to UC at the stated date in the information you have given me or not?

Yours sincerely,

Mark Smith

The response is a Joke surely there is some documentation regarding migrating legacy claimants.

Maybe it is a legal minefield and they been burying their heads in the sand for last 7-8 years or they just expected claimants on legacy benefits would have topped themselves by the time it is fully rolled out with the psychological warfare they are waging against the most vulnerable members of society .

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'JSA and UC rollout'.

I will need to request a better answer on this issue as it is completely unreasonable to claim that there is nothing planned on whether JSA claimants will be forced to move to UC this close to its planned implementation lest the government wants appear to be severely incompetent.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/j...

Yours faithfully,

Mark Smith

Hi Mark,

The DWP must be having a good day, they have included your request for an IR from 15 Feb. in a reply to myself.
They don't actually reply to it, it just seems to have been copied/pasted into the reply to myself.
