Jonathan Ullmer - Requests to forfeit MBE and reasons for his currently retaining it.
Dear Main Honours Advisory Committee,
I am an investigative journalist who has worked on award winning documentaries for Channel 4, Channel 5 BBC and others.
My Request pertains to Jonathan Phillip Ullmer who was barred from teaching for life in a decision published on the 18th December 2019. The panel outcome can be found at the link below
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk...
I would like to know the following.
1) The number of requests to the Forfeiture Committee (to date) for Mr Jonathan Ullmer's MBE to be forfeited.
2) Reasons why Mr Ullmer is able to still keep his MBE (to date)
3) The persons / authorities responsible for nominating Mr Ullmer for his MBE, which he then received.
I am well aware that there is an argument that 3) should not be disclosed. However, in the light of the seriousness of his offence, and that he continues to promote his award on social media, I think there is a strong case that this disclosure would be in the public interest.
Yours faithfully,
Andrew James

take this as an automatic acknowledgement that we have received your
nomination. They will be actively considered.
"The object of giving medals, stars and ribbons is to give pride and
pleasure to those who have deserved them. At the same time a distinction
is something which everybody does not possess. If all have it, it is of
less value. There must, therefore, be heartburnings and disappointments on
the borderline. A medal glitters, but it also casts a shadow. The task of
drawing up regulations for such awards is one which does not admit of a
perfect solution. It is not possible to satisfy everybody without running
the risk of satisfying nobody. All that is possible is to give the
greatest satisfaction to the greatest number and to hurt the feelings of
the fewest." Winston Churchill

Dear Main Honours Advisory Committee,
I have just written to you requesting an internal review. This is because the email that was given as the FOI is the one I originally used to request the information. It is not clear why in response you asked me to write to FOI.
There is no other email and the link you suggested did not reveal it.
The response I have just made is to provide evidence that a forfeiture committee actually exists, that it meets and whether it has met to discuss the situation (or similar) of the person who I originally posted about i.e. someone who still has an award but has been struck off the register for abuse).
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Main Honours Advisory Committee's handling of my FOI request 'Jonathan Ullmer - Requests to forfeit MBE and reasons for his currently retaining it.'.
