Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

One of your contributors to the BBC Radio Ulster "Talkback" show, has a public Twitter account.
This account often trades on the fact that he and his wife are contributors/broadcasters, and indeed posts when visiting BBC premises to participate in live debate. - https://twitter.com/JohnPaulWhearty/stat...

However due to unsavoury public content and opinions, I have issue with this individual being touted as the progressive middle ground of Northern Irish society, and afforded airtime. Recently, a victims campaigner (William Frazer) in Northern Ireland passed away after a long illness. William had endured multiple members of his family being murdered, including, at 15 years old, his father and uncles being murdered by terrorists.
Your contributor didn't agree (as is his right), with Williams views on terrorists transitioning into government. However, when news of Williams death was reported, John-Paul Whearty commented on twitter "One less cunt in the world" ( https://twitter.com/JohnPaulWhearty/stat... )

A brief search of Mr Whearty's timeline reveals other gems, and similar language to refer to elected representatives that he disagrees with.

My FoI query can be summarised as follows:

1. Has Mr Whearty received payment for his on-air "contributions"?
2. If yes, how much?
3. Has there been internal correspondence between Talkback production staff re: this incident, and if so, can I receive a copy of it. Redacted where appropriate.
4. Has a decision been taken by Talkback production staff not to avail of his services in future?

Yours faithfully,

Robert Gray

Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'John-Paul Whearty - One less cunt in the world'.

I do not believe this is a correct use of your stated exemption.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/j...

Yours faithfully,
