Jet Suit Classification and Certification

Military Aviation Authority did not have the information requested.

Dear Military Aviation Authority,

On 13th May 2020, Gravity Industries published a video on their YouTube channel purporting tjatbif showed the Royal Navy and Royal Marines carrying out a trial jet suit naval assault, as can be seen here:

https://youtu.be/H4FUBfp9kS0

Can you please advise as to
• Whether Jet powered suits used by the military come under your supervision? If not, why not?
• What certification is required to operate jet suits in UK airspace?
• Disclose any risk assessments compiled by yourselves since Jan 2018 on the use of jet suits in UK airspace or by UK forces overseas.
• Details of any military exercises carried out with jet suits since January 2019.

Yours faithfully,

Alexander Tiffin

Dear NAVY SEC-FOI MAILBOX (MULTIUSER),

This response is odd considering I asked the military aviation authority about airspace use and airworthiness certification. This has nothing to do with the commercial side so why have you copy pasted about two unrelated FOIs?

Please clarity the original request I made:

What is the legal status of jet suits in UK airspace?
Does it require certification like an aircraft?

Yours sincerely,

Alexander Tiffin
