JCVI published papers and studies where they are listed as co authors/contributors

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation,

Under the FOIA Act 2000, please supply the following information.

(a) Does the JCVI require it's membership to declare details of
published papers and studies where they are listed as co
authors/contributors where the published paper and any previously
conducted clinical trial or study upon which the subsequent paper is
based, is funded by a pharmaceutical company.

Yours faithfully,

Angus Files

Dear Mr Files,

Please find attached Public Health England's response that was sent to you on 3 May 2018 in which we state:

Conflicts are recorded as described in the JCVI Code of Practice, which is available at https://www.gov.uk/government/groups/joi.... There is no requirement for members to declare conflicts that are mentioned on published papers if the “interest” was more than 12 months prior to the meeting. The MRF grant award you refer to was approved in 2017 but the study enrolment had not started prior to the February JCVI meeting. Once it started an updated declaration of interests was received by the JCVI secretariat. This grant does not restrict Professor Pollard’s participation in any JCVI activities.

Kind regards,

FOI Team

Dear sir
Thank you for your response of 29th April 2019. I note your response (May 2018) "There is no requirement for members to declare conflicts that are
mentioned on published papers if the “interest” was more than 12 months prior to the
meeting."

This does not address the FOIA request I submitted ie " Does the JCVI require it's membership to declare details of
published papers and studies where they are listed as co
authors/contributors where the published paper and any previously
conducted clinical trial or study upon which the subsequent paper is
based, is funded by a pharmaceutical company."

Please confirm whether or not the JCVI require it's membership to declare their participation in published papers /studies etc which are funded in any way by the pharmaceutical industry as part of their JCVI Declaration of Interests submission. Is it the case that participation (not declarations of conflict in published papers) in pharmaceutical industry funded studies/published papers etc which are over 12 months old do not need to be declared?
Thank you

Yours sincerely,

Angus Files
