Dear Ari Henry

TfL Ref: FOI-1652-1112

Thank you for your email received by Transport for London (TfL) on 16
February 2012 asking for information about the Jacobs Report for Bow
roundabout.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and TfL’s information access policy. I can
confirm TfL does hold the information you require. You asked for:

A copy of the Jacobs Report 2010 for Bow Roundabout.

The 2010 Jacobs report referred to is the Cycle Superhighway
Infrastructure Plan (CHIP) for Barclays Cycle Superhighway Route 2 (CS2).
A copy is attached (with the large appendices removed in order to allow
the report to be emailed).

A CHIP report is prepared as part of the early feasibility work for each
Barclays Cycle Superhighway route.  It comprises a comprehensive review of
cycling conditions along the proposed route and contains recommendations
to improve the route for cyclists.

TfL and its design consultants carefully considered and appraised the
initial recommendations provided in the CHIP in order to develop workable
designs for CS2 at Bow roundabout. As with any major project, this design
work includes consideration of any early proposals against known
constraints, which are defined in further detail during the design
process. These constraints include time, cost, physical space available,
and operational requirements, timescales needed to introduce a solution
and overall costs when assessed against the predicted benefits of a
particular feature or approach.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for some reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
