Your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for your request for information, which was received on 16
February 2010.

The County Council is permitted to charge a fee for complying with your
request. The charge is normally a sum reflecting the costs which we expect
to incur in informing you whether we hold the information requested, and
communicating it to you. This includes the costs of photocopying, postage
and production in any preferred format.

At this stage, we anticipate the fee will be waived in this case. However,
this may change if, in the course of processing your request, we discover
that the costs incurred are more than merely incidental. We shall advise
you if that is the case.

We will respond to your request promptly and in any event within 20
working days of the date of receipt of your request. This timescale is
suspended during any period between the date of issue of a Fees Notice and
the date payment is received.

Dear Mr James Connely

Thank you for your email of 16 February 2010 where you requested
information about hardware contracts and purchases throughout the Council.

We are preparing the information for you but will not be able to answer
your request without further clarification.

The provision of IT in the council is not contained within one department
at present. A recent major re-organisation has brought the departmental
IT teams under one IT umbrella, we are currently in the process of
consolidating the re-structure. The information you requested to identify
the contract details from all departments cannot be provided within the
appropriate limit of £450.

The IT Department is responsible for a considerable majority of the spend
on software, we can provide this information with the list of contracts.
Would it be acceptable to you to refine your request to the hardware
purchases from the central IT Department?

Once I have your clarification I will be able to begin to process your
request. If I do not receive clarification within three months your
request will be considered to have lapsed. (Under section 1(3) of the
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), a public authority need not comply with
a request unless any further information reasonably required to locate the
information is supplied).
