Freedom of Information requests, University of Huddersfield

Good Afternoon,

Our response to your request for information dated 29 January 2021 is
provided below.

Please note that the University has a very large number of devices that
are listed in your email. To provide you the information requested
specifically for question 6, we have to manually review a large number of
devices/contracts/invoices to extract the data. Section 12(1) of the
Freedom of Information Act makes provision for public authorities to
refuse requests for information where the cost of dealing with them would
exceed the appropriate limit set by The Freedom of Information and Data
Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004 (Statutory
Instrument 2004 No. 3244).  For higher education bodies this limit is set
at £450, which represents the estimated cost of one person spending 18
hours in determining whether the University holds the information,
locating, retrieving and extracting the information.  We are unable to
estimate exactly how long it would take to determine appropriate material,
locate, retrieve and extract the information requested, however, this is
likely to be well in excess of 18 hours.  Therefore, under Section 12(1)
your request will not be processed further.

In line with our duty to provide advice and assistance under Section 16 of
the Act, you may wish to consider reforming or refocusing your request so
that we can assist you within the cost limit. Please note that a narrower
request of this kind would be considered as a new request.

Please note that the information requested for Photocopiers is exempt
under section 43(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and is
therefore being withheld.  The information is commercially sensitive and
the commercial interests of the third party would likely be prejudiced by
its disclosure particularly given the proximity of tender review.  Having
considered the public interest, the University's decision is to withhold
the information.

Furthermore, in line with our duty to assist you, please note that the
University uses national frameworks such NDNA, Apple Equipment and
Services, NEPA, ITRAP to purchase equipment falling into the above

Joe Byrne, (Head of Procurement) is responsible for the MFDs, print
hardware, and supplies contract.

Anwar Hussain (Desktop Support and IT Purchasing Manager) is responsible
for purchasing end user devices such as laptops, desktops, displays and
accessories. Contact details for them is [email address]

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within 40 working days from the date of our response to your
original request and should be addressed to the University Secretary,
University of Huddersfield, Queensgate, Huddersfield HD1 3DH or by email
to [University of Huddersfield request email].

Please note that all copyright in this response belongs to the University
of Huddersfield; you are not permitted to publish, reproduce, copy or
otherwise use this response, except as permitted by the Copyright, Designs
and Patents Act 1988.
