Dear Mr Edwards

I am responding to your recent Freedom of information request on behalf of
Sheffield City Council, Children and Young People's Service. The response
has been provided by the Religious Education adviser in the Inclusion and
Learning service of the Local Authority.

Church of England schools in Sheffield follow the Sheffield Agreed
Syllabus for Religious Education which can be found by following this link
(the document can be found as a downloadable document at the bottom of the
page):

[1]http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/education/se...

This requires all maintained schools in the City to ensure their
pupils study Islam at least once in each of Key stages 2 and 3 (Agreed
Syllabus page 4 item 6). At Key stage 1 it is up to the discretion of the
teacher, and at Key stages 4 and 5 it will depend on the Exam Board
syllabus chosen by the teacher. There are no Church of England secondary
schools in Sheffield.

Please contact me again if you have any further enquiries about this
response.

Thank you
