Dear Home Office,

Can you confirm that for purposes of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001 in their current forms Sativex is cannabis?

Yours faithfully,

Laurel Bush

If the Home Office can not provide a simple clear answer to this question then I am not clear as to how any court of law can know what is and is not cannabis

See also http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/de..., where the Home Office has refused a request for details of GW Pharmaceuticals licence for production of cannabis

I am beginning to think the Home Office may be party to an illegal plot to produce and supply cannabis while pretending it is something else, and I intend to raise the matter with my chief constable

Dear Home Office,

G W Pharma Limited’s Sativex appears to set new standards in production and packaging of tincture of cannabis (cannabis constituents dissolved in ethanol)

If this is sums up what they have done (and all literature I have found points in this direction – including MHRA-published literature) then Sativex is legally cannabis

Tincture of cannabis is not legally distinct from cannabis

Can you confirm that Sativex is cannabis?

Yours faithfully,

Laurel Bush

Dear Home Office,

Have you somehow forgotten about this FOI request, to which, by law, there should have been a response by yesterday, at the latest?

I do not think so

Please supply the asked for information

Dear Home Office,

Your response to my FOI Request, CR21642, 'Is Sativex cannabis?' seems vague and evasive

If it means that the Home Office has no record of any information identifying Sativex as a specific drug controlled by the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 or scheduled in the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001, then please confirm this interpretation

Yours faithfully,

Laurel Bush

Dear Home Office

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews

I am writing to request an internal review of Home Office handling of my FOI request 'Is Sativex cannabis’, published on the WhatDoTheyKnow.com website at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/is...

More that 20 working days has elapsed since the date of the request, 10 February 2012, and there seems to have been no response supplying information sought by the request or stating clearly whether the Home Office holds information sought by the request or clearly refusing to supply information sought by the request

The response from Joseph Ponan, 13 March, looks designed to confuse and to avoid providing information, and I see in it no real attempt to provide information sought by my FOI request or to give reason for not providing such information

Please see history of the FOI request, from the request itself, 10 February 2012, to time of this email, at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/is..., and reply to this review request by email published on the same web page

Yours faithfully

Dear Home Office

Re my FOI request ‘Is Sativex cannabis?’, 10 February 2012, I take the Home Office response at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/10... (Home Office reference T4510/12 12 April 2012) as an unreasoned refusal to provide information which would identify G W Pharma’s ‘Sativex’ product as any particular drug controlled by the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, or even to state whether the Home Office holds such information

Thank you

Yours sincerely

Laurel Bush
