Is Julian Assange charged under Bail act or any other UK legislation?

HM Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate did not have the information requested.

Dear Her Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate,

I would like to ask if Mr Julian Assange (Australian and Ecuadorian National D.O.B. 3/07/1971) is charged with any offence under the Bail Act, or any other UK legislation, as of 03/11/2018.

I am aware of the existence of an arrest warrant issued under Schedule 7 of the Bail Act for 'failure to surrender', which was issued in the context of Mr Assange's application for asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy in June 2012 (an application that was successful and which Ecuador has recognised under the 1951 refugee convention as well as other regional and international conventions), and that this arrest warrant was issued to surrender in the context of a since cancelled European Arrest Warrant. I am also aware that an Arrest Warrant does not constitute a charge (as the Magistrates court itself confirmed earlier this year).

I would therefore like confirmation that the aforementioned arrest warrant is at present, 03/11/2018, the only live matter against Mr Assange.

Yours faithfully,

Emmy Butlin
