Is a car theory test still required if I have b1 on my existing licence?

Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,

I have a b1 on my full motorcycle license. I have also been driving a heavy quadricycle for the past 3 years. Could you please confirm that I do not need to take a car Theory test? Also can I practice driving straight away as long as I am insured, the car is taxed, I have L plates and am accompanied by a fully licensed driver?

According to the DVLA website www.gov.uk/theory-test
It is not necessary to take a car theory test if a b1 licence was obtained before 2001.
