Dear Ministry of Defence,

The Iraq Medal was valid between 20 January 2003 until qualification ceased on 22 May 2011 (JSP 761 V.5, p. 8A-1 refers).

Were any UK Service personnel, who had met the then extant published medal criteria, awarded the Iraq Medal after 22 May 2011?

If so, how many successful Iraq Medal applications were there after 22 May 2011?

Yours faithfully,

J Hart

Dear [email address] on behalf of Defence Business Services Secretariat,

Thank you for your reply.

You stated that there were 913 successful applications with Iraq Medals being despatched after 22 May 2011. May I ask a follow on question. Qualification for Zone 1 was extended to 21 December 2011 (end of NATO training mission).
I wish to know how many success applications for the Iraq Medal were made after 21 December 2011 (excluding replacement medals)?
Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
J Hart
