IOPC referrals and reasons

The Citizens made this Freedom of Information request to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary as part of a batch sent to 47 authorities Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was refused by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.

Dear Hampshire Constabulary,

I'm writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) to ask that you please disclose to me how many IOPC referrals have been sent from your force between Jan 1 2017 and 31st August 2022.

I'd also like to know what percentage of these were 1) complaints 2) DSI referrals, or 3) RCMs. I would specifically (you may have to ignore DSI referrals for this) like to know how many of these were relating to matters of potential misconduct, and the amount of them that were upheld, and what action this resulted in. If you are unable to achieve this within the cost limit, then I would like the same but for the last three years up to the end date (2020, 2021, 2022).

I've already received information from the IOPC regarding the amount of referrals there have been overall during this timeframe, and they've instructed me that the best way to find out more information as to the nature and status of them would be to contact the individual forces, which I am now doing.

Yours faithfully,

Max Colbert

Dear Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary's handling of my FOI request 'IOPC referrals and reasons'.

I'm requesting an internal review of this, as the force must logically, on a year by year basis, have to collate this information in order to pass it on to the IOPC, otherwise they'd not be able to complete their yearly analysis. I'll also note that the majority of forces do not have an issue responding to this request, so I'm confused as to why Hampshire would be any different. All I am asking for is a yearly breakdown of the referrals and the category they fall under.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i...

Yours faithfully,
Max Colbert
