Investing in additional children's social care posts

Rory Baxter made this Freedom of Information request to Nottingham City Council

The request was partially successful.

Dear Nottingham City Council,

Nottinghamshire County Council has revealed that it is carrying out "large scale additional financial investment in children’s social care". This includes over £3.2m for additional staff, including 26 new fieldwork social worker posts, 7 locality support workers, 2 child protection coordinators, 2 independent reviewing officers, a number of occupational therapy posts and new supervising social worker and team manager posts. These are all expected to be filled by April 2011.

Does Nottingham City Council have similar plans to beef up its children's social care services? If so, what is the budget for this, what are the additional posts and when are they expected to be filled?

Yours faithfully,

Rory Baxter
