Dear Dr Blundell
Thank you for your request on intruder drills in schools. Please note we
only have information relevant to Community Schools under the control of
the County Council and not for Academies or Independent/Private Schools.
Further, schools are responsible for their own health & safety
arrangements and so you will see I have suggested that you contact
individual schools for some questions. I have responded to each of your
enquiries in turn below:
Please could you provide me with policy documents concerning intruder
drills in schools in North Yorkshire.
The Council does not hold any policy documents concerning intruder drills
in schools.
Specifically, I would like to have copies of any advice given to schools
regarding intruder drills The Council has not provided any advice on
intruder drills. It has provided schools with guidance on School Lockdown
procedures and the action that they should take, which each school adapts
to their local circumstances; however, this guidance does not include
Intruder Drills.
Records regarding intruder drills carried out in the last 2 years.
We do not hold any central records of Intruder Drills carried out in
Schools; you would need to approach individual schools for this
information.
Please find attached their contact details.
I hope that this information is helpful.
Kind regards
