Under the freedom of information act 2000, I’m writing to obtain the following information:

1) How many employees are working in the council?
2) What is your annual IT budget?
3) What is your annual Intranet budget?
4) What is your current Intranet solution and how long has it been in use?
5) Do you use Open Source applications, such as Drupal or Wordpress?
6) Who is responsible for managing your Intranet?
7) Who is responsible for the procurement of your Intranet?
8) Who is responsible for managing your IT Team?
9) Do you use any other SaaS (Software as a service) applications?
10) Who are your main software vendors?
11) Do you use Azure / Amazon Web Services or Office365?
12) Do you have a digital workplace strategy?

Thank you for your recent request for information relating to Intranet and
the IT service team which we received on 10/08/18.
 
Please find below, Sheffield City Council’s response to your request:
 

 1. How many employees are working in the council?

7305 employees (August 2018)
 

 2. What is your annual IT budget?

£10.7 Million
 

 3. What is your annual Intranet budget?

The intranet is part of the overall IT budget and as such it would not be
possible to split this cost out as we outsource this provision via our
managed service provider.
 

 4. What is your current Intranet solution and how long has it been in
use?

EasySite, but it is moving imminently to Adobe Experience Manager which we
also use for the Council website.
 

 5. Do you use Open Source applications, such as Drupal or Wordpress?

We use Wordpress for at least 2 websites
 

 6. Who is responsible for managing your Intranet?

Head of Digital Services
 

 7. Who is responsible for the procurement of your Intranet?

Head of Digital Services
 

 8. Who is responsible for managing your IT Team?

Mark Gannon, Director of BCIS
 

 9. Do you use any other SaaS (Software as a service) applications?

Yes
 

10. Who are your main software vendors?

This is not a request for recorded information, what would you quantify as
a “main” software vendor? And is this a particular kind of software you
are interested in? To assist, in reference to the focus of your request
Digital Services use Adobe Experience Manager for the website and intranet
provision
 

11. Do you use Azure / Amazon Web Services or Office365?

Yes
 

12. Do you have a digital workplace strategy?

Not specifically, but current strategies would encompass elements of a
digital workplace strategy.
