Dear SHARP, Kevin 8035,

Thank you for the information on 'mutual aid'. I have read the
description for these policies and I think there may have been some
misunderstanding as mutual aid does not capture the information I
am seeking, I shall clarify.

As you will be aware, the Metropolitan police recently requested
the deployment of officers at a trial at Luton Crown court. My
request is for any policy/procedures for such requests for
assistance.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Doherty

Dear Mr. Doherty,
Many thanks for getting back to me regarding your enquiry.

Please can I refer you to your other request on the same subject which I sent out to you, also on the 10th February 2012 (Our Reference no. IR-2012-00214).

Therefore, I believe that I have already supplied a comprehensive answer to this question and unfortunately I can add nothing more that I already have.

I can again confirm that the Bedfordshire Police officers who were in attendance at Luton Crown Court on the 25th November 2011 received no instructions from the Metropolitan police in relation to this court hearing.

Many thanks
Regards
Kevin

Dear Freedom of Information,

I think I have made my request absolutely clear, mutual aid
procedures is not the information I am after. Having read the
mutual aid procedures it is clear this would not cover requests for
officers from Bedfordshire police to deploy in their own areas.

My request is concerning procedures for processing requests
received from outside police forces for deployment similar to that
requested for officers at Luton Crown court.

If you do not have a procedure for this type of request for
resource allocation, then please state so. If you are saying (which
I doubt) that any request for assistance in this manner from the
Metropolitan Police should have come through the Mutual aid scheme,
then also please state this clearly.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Doherty

Dear Mr. Doherty,

Many thanks for getting back to me and I apologise for the slight delay in responding back to you.

Regarding your request I can confirm, other than Mutual aid, Bedfordshire Police do not have any formal procedure for requests for officers from other police forces.

Many thanks

Regards
Kevin

Dear Freedom of Information,

You seem to be stating that 'requests for officers' as if this
request is related to another force asking for officers for the
other parties purposes.

This is not the request at all as Bedfordshire police have not
given any police officers to the control of the Met police.

What has happened is a request was received by Bedfordshire and you
deployed resource as a result. Does your procedures not state that
this request should, like all other requests be recorded on your
crime reporting system?

And if so, please provide a copy of this procedure.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Doherty

Dear Mr Doherty

As explained to you in your previous request reference 2012-00214 " The main court Bedfordshire Police Officer who is assigned and based at Luton Crown Court, is there as part of his primary duty which involves him to be present in that court room".

As such, this officer and the one that was only there to fill in for the court officer (as it was expected they would not be present that day) was there as part of their normal duty. They were not deployed by the Metropolitan Police Service and would have been in attendance regardless of what cases were being heard that day.

I can confirm that we do not have a procedure for requests from other forces to deploy our resources within our own county area. Therefore, there is no information held for your request.

I hope that this now clears up any confusion and consider that this case is now closed.

Should you have any further queries, I would ask that you contact me directly on the number given below so that we can discuss your requirements and clarify exactly what is required.

Otherwise, if you are still unhappy with our responses I would remind you of your right to contact the Information Commissioner's Office at the address or telephone number below:
