Coventry City Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Coventry City Council,

I would like to request documents which contain questionnaires related to internet usage and social media usage of the residents within your area. The period is between 2005 and 2010.

Thanks

Yours faithfully,

Ismail

Mann, Anthony, Coventry City Council

Dear Ismail

Freedom of Information Act 2000

Thank you for requesting information about questionnaires, which the Council received on 6th April 2011.

The Council wants to be as open as possible in answering requests, and to help people obtain the information they are looking for. Unfortunately your request is not specific enough for us to be able to consider it under the Act.

The best way that we can help you is to ask you to consider whether you could narrow down your request to focus on the precise information that you are seeking. Please be more specific about which documents you are interested in.

On receipt of your narrowed down request the Council will assess your request and provide the information if possible. The working days taken for you to respond will be added to the existing deadline. However, if you do not respond within 90 days the request will be closed.

If you have any other issues relating to this request please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
Anthony Mann

Hadzic, Merima, Coventry City Council

Dear Ismail

Thank you for requesting information about internet usage and social media, which the Council received on 06.04.11 and considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

It has been established that the Council does not hold the requested information. Thus, we are unable to provide it as per Section 1(1)(a) of the Act:

"Any person making a request for information to a public authority is entitled to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information of the description specified in the request".

It may be useful to know that the Council has questioned residents about their preferred form of communication with the council through the generic household surveys and have included email/website in the list of options but this does not constitute a survey/ questionnaire about internet and/or social media use.

The council subscribes to Experian's Mosaic dataset which provides information about internet and social media use amongst a wide range of household data, which is used to help us develop our strategy in this area. We also monitor the use of the council's website and social media presence electronically and we do ask people about their preferred means of communication (including email and social networks) when setting up certain databases.

If you have any other issues relating to this request please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are dissatisfied you have a right to make a complaint about the handling of your request, and you also have a right to make an appeal about the outcome of your request – in the first instance this should be to the Council's Information Governance Team at:

Council House, Room 21a
Lower Ground Floor
Earl Street, Coventry.
