Dear Ellen,

REF: FOIA1385

Please find below responses in red to the Freedom of Information request
you made to Coventry in relation to Network Services.

1.       How much did the university spend on broadband in the 2019/20
financial year?

£92,676.00 but this includes the subscription to Jisc which covers a lot
of other services.  We don’t know the percentage for the Internet
provision.

2.       Who is your internet network provider?

JANET, Virgin, BT, Tata, Airtel, Starhub, Singtel, Du, Netia

3.       What is the average network speed on each of your campuses?
Please list the name of each campus and the internet speed for each. Here
is a tool for testing speed if needed:

Coventry 10Gbps, Cutlers Exchange 1Gbps, University House 1Gbps, Mitre

4.       What percentage of each university campus is covered by wifi?
Please list the name of each campus and the percentage of wifi coverage.

We would estimate up to 99% across all occupied spaces on every campus. We
can only estimate as to be completely sure we would have to do a full
wireless survey, which would take excessive amount of time and would be
over the cost limit under s12 of Freedom of Information Act 2000.

switched network providers?

0

buildings?

7.       Do you have fibre-optic broadband in any campus buildings?

No

8.       Do any of the university-owned halls of residence require an
ethernet cable as opposed to wifi? If yes, please list the names of the
halls of residence.

Bishop Gate is WiFi only

9.       Do any of the university-owned halls of residence have the option
to connect to both an ethernet cable and wifi? If yes, please list the
names of the halls of residence.

Quadrant Hall, Priory Hall, Singer Hall, Godiva Place, The Cycle Works can
all connect using Ethernet cable and/or WiFi

10.    Do you have a data destruction policy?

University and does not include any complaint/incidents raised separately
with the internet provider.
