Dear FOI Officer,
Thank you for your letter seeking further clarifications . I would like to get copies of your ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 full stop and not for any particular topic or project.
The SBC purport to be certified to both ISO standards, hence, I assume you have periodical audits, hence, that is the information I am seeking

Yours sincerely,

alan m dransfield

Dear FOI Officer,
I do believe your own website purport the SBC to be certified to the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.
Are you implying that you are NOT certified??

Yours sincerely,

alan m dransfield

FOI Officer, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

Dear Mr Dransfield,

Corporate Information Services is not implying anything; we are simply
asking for your assistance to help us direct your request to the
appropriate area of the Council, which will then answer your request. It
would be helpful to us and speed up the reply to your request if you could
inform us where on the Council website you have seen this information, so
that we can direct your enquiry accordingly and provide you with a
response.

Dear FOI Officer,
Thank you very much for your response. Unforunately,I cannot recall the exact location of the refered information on the SBC websiite but for ease and clarity can you please advise me if the SBC ARE CERTIFIED TO THE ISO9000and 14000 series??
That would save us BOTH a LOT of hasstle.
In the meantime,I will try and recover the SBC website which refer to the ISO standards

Yours sincerely,

alan m dransfield

Dear FOI Officer,
I would, quite frankly, expect the SBC Corporate Information Service (SBCCIS) to know WHETHER or not the SBC is certified to:
1.The ISO 9000 series Quality Management QA/QC.
2.The ISO 14000 series Environmental Management.
In the interest of public funds, may I therefore suggest you give me a simeple Yes or NO answer.
IS THE SBC CERTIFIED TO ITEM 1&2 ABOVE.

If the answer is NO, there is no need for me to pursue this FOI request. If the answer is Yes, then this FOI request is still valid??!!

Yours sincerely,

alan m dransfield

Dear Mr Dransfield,

I am writing in response to your request for information regarding ISO
accreditation and any relevant audit reports (ref 4737).

A number of Council services have achieved these accreditations.

Attached are three audit reports which were completed during 2008/09. HR
were registered for ISO 9001:2000 upon successful completion of the
audits. HR is no longer registered with ISO.

Current ISO9001 certification is held by the following services:

·         Engineering Consultancy – this covers Highways Design,
Structures (Highways & Buildings), Survey, Cartography, and GIS.

·         Traffic Services – this covers Network Management, Project
Management, Road Safety, Parking, and Transportation Policy and
programmes.

·         Steetscene Managing Agent

·         Environmental Health & Trading Standards

The reports for these services are attached. Please note that the oldest
reports we can supply are for 2008 as it is the practice to only retain
the current year’s reports plus the previous three years.

The external audit body detail the evidence they see on their visits
within the reports and this gives details of activities related to
specific organisations or individuals within Stockport as well as some
personal details of Stockport Council employees. This information has been
removed or redacted in the copies of the reports provided. This is because
information about individual employees is exempt under section 40(2) of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

Section 40(2) FOIA states that information which constitutes personal data
as defined by the Data Protection Act 1998 is exempt from disclosure if
its release would contravene one or more of the data protection
principles. The information you requested is personal data because it
relates to and identifies a living individual. Disclosure of these
personal data would be unfair; therefore it would contravene the first
data protection principle which requires the Council to process personal
data fairly. This means that the information is exempt and will not be
provided; however the reports still contain sufficient evidence to
demonstrate that the services accredited have fully met the requirements
over the time period involved.

The Council does not hold a current certification under the ISO 14001
standard.  Two of the Council Directorates achieved the standard last year
but the Council subsequently decided to withdraw from certification (but
to continue to work to improve its environmental performance). The first
and only external audits (stages 1 and 2) were carried out in September
and December 2010. They are attached.  The decision was taken in July 2011
not to continue certification to ISO14001 and Stockport Council withdrew
from certification under the standard, with all certificates returned to
the issuing body.

If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your request you are
entitled to ask for an internal review. Any internal review will be

Dear FOI Officer,
Thank you for your response on the ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.
Your records do not reflect any ISO 9000 0r ISO 14000 records for the Vale View Reddish Hills school, hence, I must assume the NO ISO 9000-14000 were conducted on this multi million pound project. Could you please expalin why NOT.

Yours sincerely,

FOI Officer, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

Dear Mr Dransfield,

I am writing in response to your request for information below (Ref 4823).

It is not clear what you are actually asking for in your email below.

It is not a requirement that the school applies for accreditation under
either of the standards you refer to. If the school itself, now it is open
and running, decided to apply for accreditation under either of these
standards, it would work towards them, be assessed by relevant bodies and
then the school itself would hold any relevant information.

If you are asking if those involved in the school-building project are
accredited, please see the response to your previous request for details
of the various Council services which have achieved these accreditations.
NPS (Stockport) Ltd also holds the following accreditations:

·         IS09001:2008 – Quality Management System – expiry 05/05/2013

·         IS014001:2004 – Environmental Management System – expiry
26/05/2012

If you are unhappy with the way we have handled your request for
information, you are entitled to ask for an internal review; however you
must do so within 40 working days of the date of this response. Any
internal review will be carried out by a senior member of staff who was
not involved with your original request. To ask for an internal review,
contact [1][email address] in the first instance.

FOI Officer, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council

Dear Mr Dransfield,

Please see the previous response to your request below. It is not clear
from your email what information you are asking for; however it appears
our previous response may have been misunderstood.

The previous response explained that NPS (Stockport) Ltd, as an
organisation, has been assessed by the relevant bodies and has obtained
the two ISO standards referred to. It also states that if the school had
decided to work towards and apply for these accreditations once it had
opened, then the school would hold the reports produced by any auditors
who assessed them to see if they had achieved the accreditations.

If you are asking if the Council (or NPS, on the Council’s behalf) holds
information about whether or not the school has obtained the ISO standards
you mention below, then the answer is that no information is held. Please
refer to our previous response below, which clarifies this matter.

Yours sincerely,
