Dear British Broadcasting Corporation,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of British Broadcasting Corporation's handling of my FOI request 'Internal communications'.
In the response to this FOI the BBC stated that it believes "the information requested constitutes personal data and we are therefore withholding any such information held under section 40(2) of the Act. "
Given the information sought relates to both internal and external BBC discussions in the broadest, most general sense in relation to this matter and not to the individual Pipa Doubtfire but rather the BBC head of revenue management. Any discussions within the BBC cannot relate to the private individual otherwise there would have been a misappropriation of resources for private matters, nor can the GDPR be used by a BBC employee (not a private individual) to protect the BBC from enquiries made under the FOI.
Given the prima facie evidence on the internet (disappearing web pages and edits) subsequent to the delivery of the letter it would seem the BBC has spent quite some time and resources with a view to erasing such data permanently from the 'Public Domain'.
I am interested not in Pipa Doubtfire the private individual but the actions of the head of BB revenue management and any misappropriation of funds and resources for what ostensibly would have been a private matter had those BBC funds and resources not been co-opted.
Under the FOI Act, I would like all letters e-mails sent by the BBC to all newspapers, internet sites etc relating to this 'incident' in any way.
I understand that you would heavily 'redact' all replies..(as your usual 'transparancy' policies dictate).
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i...
Yours faithfully,
Mr Aiken

Odd but I don't see it as refining the scope, the original request was broad so as to remove the wiggle room, leaving it up to BBC discretion as to the scope of the request. So we'll see what they do with this 'scope' now, if refused it's going to the ICO anyhoo.
