FOI REQUEST (231) – regarding insurance services (Bishop Grosseteste
University)

Emailed: 26th November 2020 at 15:45

Acknowledged: 27th November 2020

Dear Grace Williams,

I write in response to your recent Freedom of Information request relating
to insurance services at the University.  A copy of your full request is
attached below.

1.           The ITT documents which were used to support the procurement
of the current contract

Information note held: the University does not hold the ITT documents used
to procure our current agreement relating to insurance services. ITT
information will be held by the North Eastern Universities Purchasing
Consortium.

2. Suppliers who applied for inclusion on each framework/contract and were
successful & not successful at the PQQ & ITT stages

Response: the University purchases insurance cover as part of a consortium
called the North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium.  Aon is the
broker appointed by the consortium to negotiate and place insurances on
behalf of the consortium.  The consortium is independent from Aon and we
are a member of the consortium for one year at a time – currently running
until 31st July 2021).

3.           Actual spend on this contract/framework (and any sub lots),
from the start of the contract to the current date

Response: the University’s current insurance runs from 1st August 2020 to
31st July 2021. Actual spend on this insurance policy totals £67,196.32 as
of 2nd December 2020.

4.           Start date & duration of framework

Response: Aon carried out an OJEU tender for the insurance program in
2019.  The insurances for the consortium were placed on the basis of a
three-year long-term agreement with an option to ‘roll over’ for a further
two years at the end of this period. The University’s current insurance
runs from 1st August 2020 to 31st July 2021.

5.           Is there an extension clause in the framework(s)/contract(s)
and, if so, the duration of the extension?

Response: please see our response to question four regarding the
University’s current insurance agreement.  The University is under no
obligation to extend the current cover.

Has a decision been made yet on whether the framework(s)/contract(s) are
being either extended or renewed?

Response: at this time, the University has not made a decision as to the
renewal of our current insurance cover.

6.           Who is the senior officer (outside of procurement)
responsible for this contract?

Response: our Head of Finance, is the senior officer responsible for the
University’s insurance agreement.  You can contact the University in
accordance with our online contacts page to make an enquiry:
[1]https://www.bishopg.ac.uk/contact-us

Please contact me if you have any queries about this email or about the
information provided ([Bishop Grosseteste University request email]). If you are dissatisfied
with the service you have received in relation to your request and wish to
make a complaint or ask for an internal review, then please write to
Stephanie Gilluly, Registrar and University Secretary, Bishop Grosseteste
University, Lincoln LN1 3DY ([email address]).

If you are not content with the outcome of a complaint or internal review,
you have the right to appeal to the Information Commissioner.  Generally,
however, they cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the
complaints and review procedures provided by the University itself.  The
Information Commissioner can be contacted at The Information
Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9
5AF.

Kind regards,

Nadine
