I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act:

1) Since April 2010, how much has your council spent installing electric car charging points?

2) Please provide a list of individual charge points your council has funded and how many times each individual charge point was used in:
(a) 2012/2013
(b) 2013/2014
(c) So far in 2014/2015

3) Please indicate whether your electric car charge points are free to use or carry a charge. Where they carry a charge, please indicate how much this is.

Qu1: Since April 2010, how much has your council spent installing electric car charging points?

In 2010/11, the council spent £51,319.76
In 2011/12, the council spent £16,303.32
In 2012/13, the council spent £10,135.29
In 2013/14, the council spent £10,284.25
In 2014/15 (year to date up to February 2015), the council spent £15,248.67

Qu2: Please provide a list of individual charge points your council has funded and how many times each individual charge point was used in a) 2012/2013, b) 2013/2014; and c) so far in 2014/2015.

There are 10 charging points in the city that the city council is responsible for. These are in 6 locations and are available to members of the public who have joined the Brighton & Hove City Council EV registration scheme.

BHCC do not hold information about the number of times each individual charge point was used since April 2012. BHCC has usage data for February 2012 – January 2013 which is:

Qu 3: Please indicate whether your electric car charge points are free to use or carry a charge. Where they carry a charge, please indicate how much this is.

Question 3 Answer: The charge points are free to use to members of the public who have joined the Brighton & Hove City Council EV registration scheme. Parking at on-street charge points is free whilst charging; and there is a 3 hour enforced charging limit. Parking at the off-street charge points in Trafalgar Street or Regency Square Car Park is not free whilst charging. Users are required to pay the car park charge.
