Inspecting Trojan Horse schools
Dear Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills,
I recently made a request to the Department for Education concerning the inspection of 21 Birmingham schools in 2014, known as the Trojan Horse schools. They have responded, as shown in this link: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/6...
I would now like to know what instructions did you in turn issue to the inspectors in order to respond to the DfE instruction.
Yours faithfully,
Dr Karamat Iqbal

Dear Kerry McTear,
Thank you for your response to my FOI request, for 15 of the 21 schools . I have supplementary requests as follows:
1. please could you provide me the schedule of dates of inspections of the remaining (6) schools.
2. please could you provide the content of the compulsory training for inspectors which was provided on 1 April 2014
3. please can you explain what, in para 12 of the document: 'Monitoring inspections in Birmingham schools', was meant by "extremist and/or intolerant views" and "prepared for life in multicultural Britain".
Yours sincerely,
Karamat Iqbal
Dear Dr Iqbal
Thank you for your email. In response to your requests:
1. Inspection dates can be found in the form of a time line for every school on the Ofsted reports website (https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/). This can be filtered to show secondary schools in Birmingham which will provide the information you are requesting. Or alternatively individual schools can be found by searching on name or URN.
2. As advised in our letter 'You will note that in this briefing it refers to compulsory training held for inspectors. We have carried out reasonable searches for this information but have not been able to locate any details of this training. Our training records are usually only kept for three years after the date of the training.' We are therefore not able to provide any further information as to the content of the training.
3. The FOI Act is concerned with the disclosure of recorded information. As your request involves an explanation, this is not something that can be provided under the FOI Act.
I hope the information we have been able to provide has been of assistance to you.
Best wishes
Kerry McTear
Dear Kerry McTear,
Thank you for your response. Since the publication of the letter in The Guardian (3.6.2014), the narrative about Ofsted has been "First-hand accounts of the Ofsted inspections that have emerged are disturbing. They suggest that inspectors were poorly prepared ...". Given that the inspectors were trained, it would help to change the above narrative if you could provide details of the training the inspectors received.
Yours sincerely,
karamat iqbal
I am currently not working afternoons so if your query is urgent, please
