Dear Mr Alexander,

Freedom of Information request F17-119

Thank you for your request for information as copied below. You asked
three questions relating to injuries suffered by staff and MPs at work in
the House of Commons in the last 12 months, which we have sought to answer
below.

1)  Can you please provide me with details of injuries suffered by any
staff/MPs at work in the House of Commons for the most recent 12 month
period.

and

2)  Could you please provide me with details of the injury, including how
it is believed to have happened, the date it took place and if medical
treatment was required.

This information is held by the House of Commons.

The table attached details injuries sustained by any staff or MPs at work
in the House of Commons and reported via our e-system, in accordance with
the accident and incident reporting policy. This policy is available on
the parliamentary webpages here:
[1]https://www.parliament.uk/documents/tran....

The table provides a list of injuries reported from 1 March 2016 to 28
February 2017, including a short explanation as to how each injury is
believed to have happened and if medical treatment was required. Please
note, this list does not include accident and incidents which occurred off
the parliamentary estate i.e. walking on the public highway. It also does
not include near misses i.e. reports where no injury was sustained.

3)  Also can you tell me if any compensation claims have been made (and
amount paid out if claim has been settled).

This information is held by the House of Commons. From the accidents that
occurred from 1 March 2016 to February 2017, 3 have resulted in
compensation claims. However, none of these claims has been settled.

You may, if dissatisfied with the handling of your request, complain to
the House of Commons. Alternatively, if you are dissatisfied with the
outcome of your request you may ask the House of Commons to conduct an
internal review of any decision regarding your request. Complaints or
requests for internal review should be addressed to: Information Rights
and Information Security Service, Research and Information Team, House of
Commons, London SW1A 0AA or [2][House of Commons request email]. Please ensure
that you specify the full reasons for your complaint or internal review
along with any arguments or points that you wish to make.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner
at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF,
[3]www.ico.gov.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Lauren
