Dear Chloe,

In response to your Freedom of Information, I can confirm that North West
Ambulance Service do not use Hartmann’s solution / Sodium Lactate.
Attached are two documents from a trust formulary review and minutes from
an internal meeting in 2017 that reference Hartmann’s solution.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Kind regards

Caroline Turner

Dear FOI Enquiries,
Many thanks for your reply. Prior to my request I was informed by one of your advanced paramedics (wearing red epaulettes) that you had recently issued a memo prohibiting transporting patients with hartmanns solution infusions in progress. You have not disclosed this memo.
Would you please review your response to see if you have breached the requirements of a FOI request, if this memo does not exist please confirm this so I can make an HCPC referral regarding the paramedic in question

Yours sincerely,

ChloeSumner

Dear Chloe,

Thank you for getting back in touch and we have reviewed your request.

As previously stated the trust does not use Hartmann’s solution / Sodium
Lactate and searching through staff bulletins and correspondence we can
find no further reference to Hartmann's than those already submitted to
you.

Your query relates to ‘transporting patients with Hartmann's solution
infusions in progress’; a bulletin was issued to staff in October 2018
regarding multi-occupancy transfers and included within that there is the
below Frequently Asked Question relating to not transferring patients
under multi-occupancy transfer rules that have an infusion in situ that
would either need a medical escort or can be safely turned off during
transportation:

As your Freedom of Information request specifically states information
concerning Hartmann's solution this therefore wouldn’t have been included
within the materials already provided as this refers to all infusions.

I hope this information is of further assistance.

Kind regards
Caroline
