Dear Enquirer
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.
The Council of the Isles of Scilly is a very small organisation, serving a local population of around 2,200. As a unitary authority, however, the Council receives more than 700 Freedom of Information requests a year. The large majority of these requests are clearly geared towards much bigger authorities. Providing an answer to each of these questions involves an enormous amount of work. Furthermore we suspect that many of the answers we provide are not useful by virtue of the extreme small numbers. In addition, given the size of the local population, we frequently find ourselves having to withhold answers to avoid disclosing personal information.
In light of the above, we would be grateful for clarification as to whether the Council of the Isles of Scilly falls within the scope of your enquiry. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that it does not.
If the Council does fall within the scope of your enquiry, needless to say we will certainly provide you with a response.
Kind regards
Joseph Payne
