Dear J G King

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request dated 20
June 2019  in which you requested information regarding statistics on
information requests.

For ease of reference, I have reproduced your questions below and set out
our corresponding responses.

1- How many Freedom of Information requests you have received per month
from April 2017 to May 2019?

2- Could you provide further information on the requests?

Number per month which:

Responded in full

Responded in part

Refused

Exceptions used

Responded within time limit

Requests where the requester was identifiable as a current or former staff
or student of your organisation

Please see attached spreadsheet for response.

3- The number of Data subject access requests you have received per month
from April 2017 to May 2019?

4- Could you provide further information on the requests?

Number per month which:

Responded in part

Responded within time limit

Please see the attached spreadsheet for our response.  In response to your
questions on whether we have responded in full, please note that our
systems do not record this.  We respond to each request with the
information which we consider to be the personal data of the requestor.
Many requests include some redactions of material which is not considered
their personal data and therefore not released.

5- The number of requests regarding data subject rights such as requests
for erasure or rectification by month from April 2017 to May 2019?

Since May 2018 to May 2019 we are aware of one request which has been
received by a central department to delete personal data. Requests may
have been to other areas of the University and would usually be actioned
locally.

6- Could you break down these requests by month by subject right?

The right to be informed

The right of access

The right to rectification

The right to erasure

The right to restrict processing

The right to data portability

The right to object

Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling.

7- How many staff (FTE) do you have to respond to freedom of information
and data subject requests?

We have a team based approach to answering requests for information with 5
people able to work on these responses in addition to other duties. We are
unable to supply the FTE equivalent as the team based approach allows us
to remain flexible depending on the level or complexity of requests.

8- In which department do these staff sit? E.G. IT, Legal, Governance,
Executive support

The Department of Strategic Planning and Governance

I trust this information satisfies your enquiry.  The University has a
Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel dissatisfied
with this response or the way in which your request was handled.
Complaints must be made in writing and must set out why you believe the
University has not met its obligations under the Freedom of Information
Act.  You may email your complaint to [email address] where it
will be forwarded to the Director of Strategic Planning and Governance who
will be responsible for overseeing the review.

If you remain dissatisfied following the outcome of your complaint, you
have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
consideration.  The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the
following address: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House,
Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely
