Information relating to homeless applicants registered prior to 9th November 2012

The request was partially successful.

Dear Waltham Forest Borough Council,

1. Can you please provide what Waltham Forest Council’s policy is towards housing applicants who were registered as homeless, prior to the change in law, which came into force on 9th November 2012, by virtue of The Localism Act 2011?

2. Does Waltham Forest Council make ‘direct offers’? If no, please explain why and when this changed. Does this answer differ depending on whether applicants were registered as homeless before or after the change in law on 9th November 2012. If so, please specify the answer accordingly.

3. With regards to the above question, how long can an applicant who was registered before 9th November 2012, expect on average to wait, till being made a permanent direct offer for Waltham Forest Council Housing (non- private)?

4. How many homeless applicants registered before 9th November 2012, are there on the Housing register waiting list?

5. How many homeless applicants registered before 9th November 2012, are currently in Temporary Accommodation?

6. How many homeless applicants registered before 9th November 2012 have been made a permanent direct offer in Waltham Forest Council Housing, from 2012 till 2018?

7. How many available 2, 3 and 4 bedroom Council housing properties does Waltham Forest Council have in London (properties which can be allocated), which are not in the private sector? Please answer this question by specifying the number of properties available for Temporary Accommodation and Permanent offers separately.

8. Does Waltham Forest Council have any Council housing properties outside of London (properties which can be allocated), which are not in the private sector? If yes, which cities?

Can all the questions be answered for both applicants with ‘Reasonable preference’ and ‘Additional preference’, where applicable.

Yours faithfully,

B Hussain
