Information recorded by Libra on legal representation

The request was successful.

Dear HM Courts and Tribunals Service,

Please could you provide me with screenshots from the elements of Libra that are used by Magistrates’ Courts to input any information relating to the legal representation status of the defendant in criminal cases.

Please do not include any personally identifiable information.

If these screens include drop-down elements, I would be grateful if the screenshots could capture the options that are available in the drop-downs.

Thank you for your help and please let me know if I can clarify this request.

Yours faithfully,

Gideon Leibowitz

Dear Danielle, Geraint-Wyn and Sarah,

Thank you for your reply, it is greatly appreciated and very helpful.

To clarify however, the request was not about the legal aid status of defendants in magistrates' courts. Rather, I am interested in understanding how Libra records the representation status of all defendants, regardless of whether they have received legal aid or not.

It would therefore be great to clarify the following:
- Are there any mandatory inputs on Libra for recording the representation status of defendants (regardless of legal aid status)?
- If so, could we please see screenshots of these and any relevant codes which represent different representation statuses?
- If there is no mandatory input for representation status, is there a voluntary input? If so, could we also please screenshots of these as well as any codes used?

Thank you for your help so far. If there is anything I can do to further clarify my question, or help you in any way, then please do let me know.

Yours sincerely,
Gideon Leibowitz

Dear Mr Leibowitz,

Your email was referred to Mr Jenkins who made the following comment:

'There are no mandatory inputs on libra for recording the representation status of defendants, as there is no requirement on HMCTS to collect or retain this data.

The previous response, including the screenshots cover all instances of legal representation within Libra.

The majority of data is provided by the LAA, and is a requirement of the LAA, not HMCTS (for these cases we will keep LAA updated with the case progression) the first two screenshots provided.

The only voluntary input is the attending solicitor field in resulting, and solicitor as a party to case on the following case entry screen, as per my last response, and the last three of the five screenshots supplied.'

I am unable to respond to any further emails regarding this request. Any further requests will need to be submitted via the correct channels.

Kind regards

Danielle Bowman
