Information pertaining to Cyclic Maintenance for Drainage Infrastructure
Dear Dorset County Council,
Under the FOI Act I would respectfully request the following information relating to the management of the drainage infrastructure within your highway authority.
Do you hold an asset inventory?
YES / NO
If you hold an asset inventory please quantify the following items that your authority has responsibility for
Ditch - length in metres
Culvert - length in metres
Grip - number of
Gully or Drain - number of
When were the quantities last reviewed and validated?
Do you undertake cyclic maintenance on any of these items and if so what is the current frequency of maintenance or cleaning for each named asset.
How do you rate the efficiency of your cyclic maintenance activities for each asset item:
poor | acceptable | good | excellent
(please answer even if you do not hold an asset inventory of these items.)
As there appears to be more flooding events happening in recent years, please also provide the budgetary spending (to the nearest £1000) covering the last five years (2008 - 2012 inclusive) for each cyclic maintenance activity highlighting clearly for each year whether you have;
increased the budgetary spending for maintaining these assets,
reduced the budgetary spending for maintaining these assets
or kept the budgetary spending for maintaining these assets constant
from the previous year.
If you have reduced budgetary spending on cyclic maintenance activities in any year(s) please state whether this has been offset by more efficient working practices or whether have you reduced your level of service.
For the each of the last five years (2008 - 2012 inclusive) please provide the percentage of asset items that were maintained / cleaned against the quantities/lengths held in your asset inventory record.
For each of the last five years (2008 - 2012 inclusive) please indicate the percentage of highway flooding reports that can be attributed to inadequate maintenance of the drainage infrastructure.
