Information on violence and abuse in schools

We're waiting for Ben Kinsey to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Wandsworth Borough Council,

Please provide me with information on the number of incidents of violence or abuse towards staff in schools in your borough over the past 24 months.

For each incident, please state the date of the incident,the name of the school in question, the nature of the incident, any further details you have recorded (e.g. a summary of what happened). Please also clarify whether the incident was initiated by a student or parent or other.

I'd like to have the incidents reported by Pre-school centres of education, Primary schools
Secondary schools and Special school. Also - Number against teaching staff only, Number against non-teaching staff only, Number against both teaching and non-teaching staff, Number in which police notified. Information on incident type and Incidents by location and time would also be appreciated.

I would like this information in an excel or word document (I would not like the information provided in a pdf). If you anticipate any concerns with this request please let me know as soon as possible. If you are unable to answer a particular aspect of this request please still respond to the other aspects in full. Please send me confirmation that you’ve received this FoI request and I look forward to receiving your response within the statutory 20 working day period.

We are unable to provide all of the information requested.  Please refer

Section 40: Personal Information

 

We are unable to provide you with the detailed information you have asked
for.  We are mindful of our role as data controllers in relation to
processing information where disclosure would breach our statutory
obligations under the Data Protection Act. 

 

We consider that disclosure of the details requested would enable the
identification of (a) living individual(s) either from the information
itself or from the information being cross-referenced with other
information in the possession of, or likely to come into the possession
of, a third party with knowledge of such matters; and may cause distress
to the individuals involved.

 

Disclosure of the requested information could therefore result in a breach
of one or more of the principles of the Data Protection Act (1998) and is
consequently exempt in accordance with Section 40(2) of the Freedom of
Information Act (2000).
