Dear Mr Bailey
Further to your email I asked for further calcification and was provided with the below:
6. What Emergency Response Driver qualifications, regulated or otherwise, are accepted by your trust for Emergency Ambulance Crew employed by a Private Ambulance Provider working on behalf of your trust.
The Trust procures third party providers via a standard national NHS contract framework. All providers on this framework have to meet the standards outlined within the National Health and Social Care Framework Specification for Urgent Care 2014-2019. . Third party providers are only used to respond as an Urgent Care crew and not a full emergency response crew so they do not undertake emergency driving under blue light conditions.
The framework specifies the following:
The Provider will ensure that all drivers have the necessary qualifications to drive the vehicle. The Provider will also ensure that drivers have adequate experience, sufficient knowledge and proven competence, and will drive the vehicle in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort”.
I hope the above is of assistance.
Regards
Sarah
