Information on the use of Family Group Conferences
Dear Achieving for Children,
I would like to make a request under the freedom of information act to obtain information regarding the use of family group conferences within your children’s services and would be grateful for the following information please:
• Are holding Family Group Conferences a standard part of your process?
• How many Family Group Conferences do you hold on average a month?
• What would you consider the success rate of the Family Group Conferences to be (with success being that the child is not placed in care etc.)?
I look forward to receiving your response in due course.
Yours faithfully,
S J Lines

Many thanks
S J Lines (Ms)
Dear Ms Lines,
Your Freedom of Information request has now been considered.
Your Request
Are holding Family Group Conferences a standard part of your process?
How many Family Group Conferences (across all of Kingston's Children's
Services) do you hold on average a month?
What would you consider the success rate of the Family Group Conferences
to be (with success being that the child is not placed in care etc.)?
Response
1. Family Group Conference is a standard practice and expectation for
those children we are working with where we are entering into the
pre-proceedings (PLO) or the court arena.
2. 3.2 (June 2020 - February 2021)
3. Outcomes for these FGCs:
Child placed with alternative family member 1
Child remain living in the family 1
Family member presented for assessment as alternative carers 7
Family support to increase safety plan for children 14
Plan resolved issues between family members 5
Shared Care arrangements 1
All 29 FGCs had a positive outcome.
Yours sincerely,
Chantelle Elliott
