Information on the relationship with UWE accommodation relating to the use of drug dogs/training

The request was successful.

Dear University of the West of England,

Please can I have information about the regular use of drug dogs or any other drug testing at the University of the West of England's (UWE) accommodation.

For the last five years, separated by year (e.g. 2017/18, 2018/19, etc.) please can I have:

What is the stated purpose of these visits?
When and how were Avon and Somerset Constabulary authorised to make these visits?
How often do these visits happen?
How many students were referred to UWE or another external body or person in relation to the discovery of drugs on a premises?
Were any arrests, cautions, or other warnings made as a result of these searches, and, if so, how many were made, broken down by type?
How many different flats, houses, rooms, or other premises were searched?
What is the cost of these visits to the University or the Police?
What notice is given to students that these visits will be taking place?
What authorization is obtained from students to make these visits?

Yours faithfully,

Jack Fifield
