Information on Recycling in Wye

The request was partially successful.

Dear Ashford Borough Council,

Please could you advise me of the following

a) How much does each household in Wye pay for rubbish collection. (broken down as a yearly and weekly amount)

b) How much of what each household pays in Council Tax is paid to Wyecycle for recyling ( (broken down as a yearly and weekly amount)

c) If Wyecycle are not paid an element direct from Council tax but are paid on tonnage (recycling credits). Please clarify the tonnage and amount paid in the last three years as this amount presumably is covered by our overall council tax.

d) Is an amount paid for cardboard and tins, included in the total amount paid to Wyecycle.

e) From 2013 what service will be provided to Wye in terms of waste collection and recycling collections.

f) What is paid per ton when waste is taken to the incinerator at Aldington? Is it £90 per ton?

g) What is the residue from the incinerator used for and does this raise money and if so for which body?

i)How much waste each year has to be taken to the incinerator to ensure there is no contractual penalty and what is the impact of recycling on this.

J) How much per ton is paid to Wyecycle is it £55?

Yours faithfully,

Linda Cobb

Ashford Borough Council

Dear Ms Cobb, Thank you for your recent FOI in relation to WyeCycle.
Please find my answers below: a) Current cost of collection from a house
is 69 pence. Therefore for a year, and assuming 26 collections in Wye per
annum, the average household would pay £17.94 per annum. b) During the
last full financial year (10/11) WyeCycle received £19,734 for undertaking
collections on behalf of Ashford Borough Council. If you assume 1150
households in Wye then this would be approximately £17.16 per household
per year. c) I believe that KCC will answer this question. d) I believe
that KCC will answer this question. e) Ashford Borough Council is
currently involved in a tender for the provision of refuse, recycling and
street cleaning services and therefore I can not tell you exactly what
service will be provided across the borough from April 2013. However,
following consultation with residents of the borough as part of the
council's 5 year business plan it is currently assumed that the new
service will consist of a weekly food collection service along side an
alternating weekly refuse and recycling service. Furthermore I expect the
recycling service to expand to include the recycling of plastics, tetrapak
and possibly other materials a well. f) I believe that KCC will answer
this question. g) I believe that KCC will answer this question. i) I
