Information on Procedure used to decide British Values in the Government's PREVENT Strategy and their place in legislation
Dear Home Office,
I am student studying politics, philosophy and economics currently writing a thesis at the University of Oxford on British Values.
I was wondering how the Coalition decided to settle on the values it did? As far as I can see there was no consultation process nor was there a parliamentary debate on the issue.
In addition, I was wondering in which piece of legislation these values were passed? Were they passed in a larger Government Anti-Terrorism strategy or have they in fact not been placed in legislation at all?
I thank you in advance for your time.
Yours faithfully,
Kes Daood

Dear FOI Requests,
I was wondering if I would receive a response to my freedom of information request soon? By law, you should have already responded.
To clarify I wish to know exactly how you decided on the British Values present in PREVENT. I understand there was a public consultation, but how did you move to that to produce the final product? They seem to be hardly mentioned in the consultation document (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/sy...) but seem to have made their way into the final piece of legislation.
Thank you in advance for your time. Yours sincerely,
Kes Daood

Dear Home Office,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Home Office's handling of my FOI request 'Information on Procedure used to decide British Values in the Government's PREVENT Strategy and their place in legislation'.
Twice I have asked for a response from the Home Office asking for information about the "British Values" included in PREVENT legislation and the citizenship test. On both of accounts you have failed to issue any kind of response.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i...
