Thank you for your email of 17 November concerning HMS Shincliffe. The
information you have requested is exempt from the Freedom of Information
Act under Section 21.(1) Information accessible to the applicant by other
means. Please see Section 7 of our Publication Scheme:

However, we are pleased to provide the following information:

There are three items in the Museum's collections that relate specifically
to HMS Shincliffe. These are:

Plan NPN8910. A drawing showing an outline profile of the ship to
illustrate the rigging arrangement as completed in 1918. The plan is at
1:48 scale.

Negative N3829: This image shows a port quarter view of the ship, taken in
about 1920.

Model SLR1438: A builder's model pertaining to Shincliffe and her three
identical sisters.

The plan and the negative have not been scanned, but they can be either
viewed by appointment at the BF (you are welcome to contact us at
[2][email address] to arrange this) or scans can be ordered via
the Picture Library. The model is presently on display in the Forgotten
Fighters Gallery.

I hope that you are happy with the service you have received in relation
to your request but if not and you wish to make a complaint you should
write to me, Christopher Gray, Museum Secretary at the Park Row address

If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint, you may apply
directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. (Generally, the
Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted

Thank you so much for the work you have done regarding HMS Shincliffe, it is really appreciated.

With reference to your reply to my original enquiry, I would like a copy of the Plan NPN8910 : Outline drawing (1:48 scale) and also a scanned copy of Negative N3829

Would it be possible to have an image of the Model SLR 1438 in it's case? If not, would you let me know the location, so that we can come to see it for ourselves when next visiting London.

Please let me know of any costs involved re my enquiry.

Scanning of the plan and the negative can be arranged via our Picture
Library. There is an image of the model which you can view here

Dear Stuart,

 

Many thanks for your enquiry, passed on to me by my colleague Andrew.

From reading you correspondence with other members of the museum team, I
understand you wish to order some digital images. In terms of costs for
ship plan scanning, we charge £70 + VAT for the first plan and then £50 +
VAT per subsequent plan requested in the same order. Negative scanning
costs £50 + VAT per image. For both negatives and ship plans, the process
takes 3 weeks to complete and we then provide exact scale, 300 dpi JPEGs
via an FTP link via email. Plans and images can be used for personal use
only.

Please let me know if you would like to go ahead with this order, and I
will email you an Order Form.
