Thank you for your request for information received on 03 September 2024. This request has been
handled under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
Your request
I would like to know when the last time comprehensive resurfacing was carried out on the Oxford
Ring Road between BMW Cowley and the bridge at Old Road and the estimated volume of traffic
since that time. I would also like to know when comprehensive resurfacing work is next planned to
take place over this section and whether acoustic surface treatment is part of this work.
Our response
This stretch of the A4142 has been pre patched and surface dressed. This was undertaken on the
dates and locations listed below:
• 2019: Surface dressing from Risinghurst to Horsepath Driftway
• 2021: Surface dressing from Horsepath Driftway to BMW Cowley
Surface dressing can extend the life of a carriageway by up to 10 Years and can be repeated.

This section of road It is not currently in a programme for further works and is not identified for
acoustic surface treatment.
