Dear Miss Butterfield,

In February 2011 the retaining wall along Dudwell Lane collapsed onto the adjacent railway line below along with part of the public highway, that resulted in an early morning train derailed and subsequent disruption on the rail network for trains between Leeds & Manchester Via Bradford.

My request concerned when the Council became aware of this issue? I was not requesting information in relation to service requests from members of the public.

From my recollection & understanding shortly after this incident the Cabinet Member for Economy and Environment at a Council meeting stated that a complaint to Network Rail had been submitted regarding this collapse. Due to that CMBC reported deterioration of the public highway several years earlier.

Therefore I am of the opinion that CMBC should be aware of when this issue/issues along Dudwell lane were first identified?

Yours faithfully
MBradley
