Dear C Griffiths

Thank you for your request for information below.

Please find below our responses to the questions you have raised.

1.Any application you made in 2019 or 2020 to be a “Stonewall Diversity Champion” or to be included on Stonewall’s “Workplace Equality Index,” including any attachments or appendices to those applications. Please redact personal details if necessary.

The Arts Council of Wales is a Stonewall Diversity Champion for which we pay an annual renewal premium. It is not based on an application process. We were a Member of the Stonewall Diversity Champion programme prior to 2019. We have not requested to be included on the Workplace Equality Index. Therefore, we do not hold any information in response to this request.

2.Any feedback you received in 2019 or 2020 from Stonewall in relation to either application or programme.

Please see our response to Q1 above. This is a membership-based programme not based on an application process. For the years in question, we would have paid an annual renewal membership fee only.

3. Any other communication you have received from Stonewall in 2019 or 2020 unless privileged or otherwise exempt from disclosure (but if you claim privilege or exemption in relation to any material, please say in broad terms what the material is and the basis on which you claim to be entitled to withhold it).

As a Stonewall Diversity Champion Member we have access to online resource material through Stonewall Cymru’s Members Portal. In addition to this material, we did seek specific advice in 2020 directly with Stonewall, in relation to the wording of our Menopause policy in relation to trans employees. A copy of this email correspondence is attached. Individual names have been redacted under Section 41 of the Freedom of Information Act – Personal Information.

4.Full details of any equality impact assessment you carried out connected with any of these applications (including any equality impact assessment carried out prior to an earlier application of the same kind, if no further assessment was done).

Please see response to Q1. Becoming a Stonewall Diversity Champion does not require an application from them or us. We considered that it would be beneficial to have access to specialist guidance and support to assist us in moving forward with our Strategic Equality plan and programme of activity. No Equality Impact Assessment was undertaken.

5. Details of the total amount of money you paid to Stonewall (i) in 2019; (ii) in 2020, whether or not as payment for goods or services.

Paid 12/06/19 - Diversity Champion Member Fee 20/04/19 19/04/20 - £3,000

Paid 04/08/20 - Diversity Champion Member Fee 20/04/20 19/04/21 - £3,000

6. Whether you intend to continue your membership of any Stonewall scheme in the future, and if so which.

We have renewed our membership as a Stonewall Diversity Champion for 2021/22. We will be considering renewal for 2022/23.

If I can be of any more assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
