Information about granting the Prince of a Wales a .gov.uk domain
Dear Cabinet Office,
I would like to find out why the Prince of Wales has been granted a
.gov.uk domain ( www.princeofwales.gov.uk) when he does not seem to
meet the criteria laid down by the COI at
http://coi.gov.uk/guidance.php?page=193.
I originally made this FOI request to ja.net: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/in...
They have replied saying "According to the Janet Whois Lookup Service, the domain name princeofwales.gov.uk was orinigally registered in September 2003: http://www.ja.net/services/whois/lookup.....
COI took over management of the .gov.uk domain name approvals process in October 2006. Unfortunately we do not hold any records of applications or eligibility assessments prior to this date."
I now know that the Cabinet office was responsible for the management of domain names in 2003.
So could you supply me with the details of his application to use a
.gov.uk domain and the details of any review or assessment you made
as to his eligibility?
Yours faithfully,
malcolm coles
