Martin Antoszczak

Dear East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust,

My name is Martin, I am a second year student paramedic currently investigating the use of non-invasive ventilation in UK ambulance services as part of one of my assignments. I would like to request the following information:

1. Is there any region within EEAS currently where ambulance crews* have access to non-invasive ventilation machines in the form of CPAP or Bi-PAP?

2. Is there any region within EEAS where there are plans to introduce non-invasive ventilation machines in the form of CPAP or Bi-PAP in the foreseeable future for use by ambulance crews*?

* Where ambulance crews refers to vehicles which are either paramedic-led or technician-led and responding to 999 calls.

Yours faithfully,

Martin Antoszczak

Dear Martin

Further to your email dated 2nd January 2020, please find the Trust's
reponse below.  Your request has been allocated the following reference:
24601, please could you quote this reference in any future correspondence
with the Trust.

1. Is there any region within EEAS currently where ambulance crews* have
access to non-invasive ventilation machines in the form of CPAP or Bi-PAP?

There is no region within EEAS currently where paramedic or technician led
ambulance crews have access to non-invasive ventilation machines in the
form of CPAP on BiPAP.

2. Is there any region within EEAS where there are plans to introduce
non-invasive ventilation machines in the form of CPAP or Bi-PAP in the
foreseeable future for use by ambulance crews*?

We are looking to replace our ventilators in the future and are exploring
the option of PEEP and CPAP. However it is unlikely that these will be
widely distributed to all paramedic and technician led ambulances.

* Where ambulance crews refers to vehicles which are either paramedic-led
or technician-led and responding to 999 calls.

I am obliged to advise you that if you are dissatisfied with the Trust’s
response to your request you have a right to complain to the Trust and

FoI applicants equality and diversity questions. You are under no
obligation; however we would be grateful if you could complete the form
attached and email this back to us.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any further
information.

Kind regards
